Ultimate Desert - Chocolate, Carmel, Coffee, Whipped Cream

Ultimate Desert - Chocolate, Carmel, Coffee, Whipped Cream

Makes 4 servings (The glasses we use for the Ultimate Desert are 4" high and 3 3/4" in diameter.)

Yes we break the two serving rule with this recipe. Why? Because we only make this desert when we have guests. It is a lot of work, but more importantly it is truly decadent.

Individually the three main items that make up the Ultimate Desert are individual deserts or can be combined with other things to make different deserts. Hence, in the recipe section they are all listed independently. ** indicates at what point in the recipe you would continue on to make the Ultimate Desert.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Drizzle some coffee caramel sauce into the bottom of the glass.
  2. Cut the cake horizontally so that you have two cakes each approximately 1/2" thick. Using the glass that you are going to use for the final desert cut out circles of cake. How many circles you need will depend on the height of your glass. We required 8 in total, 2 per glass. Plus we used some of the remaining pieces of cake on the top.
  3. Place a layer of cake over the coffee caramel sauce.
  4. Sprinkle some Kahlua over the cake.
  5. Drizzle some coffee caramel onto the cake.
  6. Place a 3/4" layer of chocolate mousse over the cake (a piping bag works well).
  7. Place a 3/4" layer of whipped cream over the mousse (a piping bag works well).
  8. Place another layer of cake over the whipped cream.
  9. Sprinkle some Kahlua over the cake.
  10. Drizzle some coffee caramel onto the cake.
  11. Place a 3/4" layer of chocolate mousse over the cake.
  12. Place a 3/4" layer of whipped cream over the mousse.
  13. Place small pieces of the cake on top of the whipped cream.
  14. Sprinkle some Kahlua over the cake.
  15. Drizzle some coffee caramel onto the pieces of cake.
  16. Your Ultimate Chocolate, Carmel, Coffee, Whipped Cream Desert is finished.

Note: Loraine and I had a lengthy discussion on whether or not a cherry should be added to the top. We don't really like maraschino cherries, we find them to sweet. However, next time we may add a hand dipped dark chocolate cherry to the top.

Note: We made these a day in advance and covered the glasses with plastic wrap and refrigerated. We think that it made the desert even better as the cooling seemed to enhance the flavors.
