Koolatron 18 Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler

Over the years Loraine and I have developed a taste for good wine. During our travels we have been spoiled by having access to some of the best wines from all over the world.

When at home we have belonged to wine clubs and taken pride in having a small but well respected wine collection.

One of the things we have always talked about having is a proper wine cooler, yet for some reason we never purchased one. I think it's because we always thought that it would be better to spend the money allocated for the wine cooler to buy more wine! The other problem was, do we get a wine cooler for our red wines or our white wines or do you buy two coolers?

Recently we were presented with an online ad for a Koolatron 18 bottle, dual zone wine cooler, that was on sale, and the seller offered free delivery. After a quick investigation, the wine cooler seemed to meet all of our wine cooler requirements.

The cooler holds 8 bottles in the upper compartment which we designated for white wine and 10 bottles in the lower compartment which we designated for red wine. We hold the upper white wine compartment at 12° C (54° F) and the lower red wine compartment at 16° C (60° F).

We are quite pleased with the wine cooler, it's very quiet, ours resides in the dining room and continually maintains the temperature of both compartments. Of course, nothing is perfect. This wine cooler is really not built to store the taller Riesling style wine bottles. However, you can lie them inside the cooler on an angle, taking up 2 wine bottle spots. Of course one of our favorite wines is produced from Kerner grapes and is bottled in a Riesling style wine bottle, isn't that always the way.
